As an ongoing part of its music program, Nashoba High School is pleased to offer the opportunity for adults and students from the Nashoba family and surrounding communities to rehearse and perform with the Nashoba Symphonic Band.

The 100+ Nashoba Symphonic Band currently performs five concerts each season at Nashoba Regional High School and occasional off-site locations. The 2019-2020 season includes the following concerts:

Sunday, October 27th at 3 p.m. “Look to the Autumn Sky” with works by Mackey, Piston and Alexander, and featuring Mars and Jupiter from Holst’s “The Planets”, and music from “Star Wars.”

Thursday, December 5th 7-9 at the Solomon Pond Mall, our annual Holiday Pops program with seasonal favorites, including music from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”

Sunday, February 9th at 3 p.m. “The Heart of America” with works by American composers Copland, Gillis, Rodgers and Native American composer, Brent Michael Davids. The featured work is Grofé’s “Mississippi Suite.”

Sunday, May 3rd, at 3 p.m. “Viva Italia” with the music of Delle Cese, Puccini and a full performance of Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome.”

Thursday, June 11, 7:30 p.m. “Spanish Flair” with music by Marquina, Gimenez and the haunting “Malaguena” of Ernesto Lecuona. This program is also our salute to graduating seniors.

The Nashoba Symphonic Band welcomes new players at the beginning of each season and at rehearsals immediately following each concert. There are no auditions, but students (grade 8 and above) are required to present a recommendation from their school instrumental director or private instructor.

FIRST REHEARSAL for the season is THURSDAY, AUGUST 29 at 7 p.m. Registration for all new and returning members will be from 6-7. Registration is no longer available on-line.

Those wishing to join should contact either the conductor, David Bailey baileydavidwayne@gmail.com OR Joe McCarthy, Nashoba Regional High School Instrumental Director jmccarthy@nrsd.net . Please contact us so that music and equipment is available.
