Nashoba Symphonic Band Concerts 2017-2018

We hope you are having a nice summer! If you are interested in being part of the Nashoba Symphonic Band in the fall, here is some updated information. More information is available on the NSB page.

The Band is always looking for new members who perform on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Those wishing to join may register on this site or through the contacts found below. There are no auditions, but students (grades 8 and above) are required to present a recommendation from their high school instrumental director or private instructor.

Suggested annual donation is $75. There are no fees for students. Adults with need to complete a CORI check per Massachusetts General Law regarding interaction with public school students.

Regular rehearsals for the 2017-2018 season will be held on Thursdays, beginning August 31, from 7-9, in the Instrumental Music Room of Nashoba Regional High School, located on Rt. 117, west of Bolton center (gps address is 12 Green Street, Bolton)

 

Early registration or at least initial contact is highly recommended prior to first rehearsal to insure adequate music and equipment is on hand.
Happy last week of high school for our seniors.  I can’t believe that we are already at this stage of the year.

 

I also would like to congratulate all of our choirs on a wonderful performance on Friday evening.

Memorial Day Parades

Please return your permission slips asap if you have not done so last week.

We will be meeting at NRHS on Monday morning at 7:45 am and loading the bus and leaving at 8 am to Lancaster Town green.
There will be a signup list sent shortly for help with our annual BBQ in between the two parades.
Schedule:
7:45 am – Meet @ NRHS Band Room
8:00 am – Depart for Lancaster Town Green
8:15 am – Unload and warm up
9:00 am – Parade Step Off
10:30 am (Estimated) – Back to Town Green for ceremony
11:00 am (Estimated) – Pack bus and head for BBQ
12:45 pm – Depart for Stow Parades
2:00 pm – Stow Parade Steps off
3:30 pm (Estimated) Parade ends

Well, we are here! Concert week is upon us.
Below, please find details about Friday’s concert as well as tonights FOM meeting.
Tonight, Monday 5/08
Friends of Music Meeting 
6:30 pm, NRHS Cafeteria
 
For tonight’s FOM meeting, we have sent an e-mail our through out middle school music teachers inviting parents of our incoming freshman to attend.  We hope that you can come out as well.
Venue change: We will be holding our monthly FOM meeting in the NRHS Cafeteria tonight, still beginning at 6:30 pm.
 
Pops Concert:
Friday, 5/12 
7:00 pm, NRHS Auditorium
 
This Friday is our annual Pops concert which includes some senior solos.
This is a concert where we are performing more popular style music, hit songs, musicals, etc.
Also at this concert, we are celebrating our graduating seniors as they perform in their last formal concert of the year.  Throughout this concert, some of our seniors will be performing prepared pieces as solo or small groups, within our concert. These will be announced within the concert.
Details:
5:00 pm – Intermediate Jazz Band, report to band room and then auditorium for sound check
5:45 pm – Advanced Jazz Band, report to band room and then auditorium for sound check
6:15 pm – Concert Band: Report to Band Room for tuning, sound check.
7:00 pm- Concert Begin
 
8:30 (estimated) pm – Concert Conclude
 
After the concert is concluded, as always, students will help bring the equipment back to the band room.

Symphonic Band graduation Concert, Thursday, June 15th . 7:00 pm, NRHS Auditorium.

Nashoba Symphonic band is presenting our spring concert, entitled “Hands Across the Sea” Sunday, May 7th beginning at 3 pm in the NRHS Auditorium.  The concert will feature band literature from the United States and England with everything from Holst to Harry Potter.

Admission is free of charge, but donations are welcomed.  We hope to see you there.

Music Banquet RSVP

Just as a reminder that our annual music banquet RSVP is due soon.
These were mailed home a couple of weeks ago (also attached here as well)
Remember it is $20 for a student within our performing groups, and $35 for all additional family members.  Our Friends of music has subsidized the amount of the tickets to try to make it affordable for all.
We hope that you can all attend.  This is a wonderful event to celebrate all of the hard work and dedication from our students throughout the year.
