2014 Holiday Choral Concert News

Tuesday, 12/16 – Broadway Women’s Ensemble- 2:30-4:00 PM
         This is a mandatory rehearsal that will be held in the Auditorium.
 
Tuesday, 12/16 – Mixed Chamber Choir- 4:00-5:30 PM
          This is a mandatory rehearsal that will be held in the Auditorium
 
Friday, 12/19 Holiday Choral Concert 7 PM NRHS Auditorium
            Warm-Up call is 6 PM in the chorus room.

Band Updates week of 11/17/14

We would like to thank all of our Pep Band members who braved the cold and other elements this fall.  It was truly a great step in a new direction for the group.

Some upcoming events to be aware of:
This Sunday, 11/23 Mr. McCarthy will playing hockey with a team of Nashoba students and staff in an exhibition game to help support our Best Buddies program.  The team will play against the East Coast Jumbos, a hockey team who gives students with developmental and intellectual disabilities a chance to learn and grow by playing hockey.
The game will be on Sunday, 11/23 from 7 – 8 pm at the New England Sports Center, 121 Donald Lynch Blvd, Marlborough, MA 01752.
Tickets for the event are $5 at the door.

Tuesday, 11/25 – Pep Rally – During School
Students in concert band and intermediate jazz band will perform
Friday, 12/05 – Holiday Pops Concert – 1:45 pm – 8:00 pm
We will be leaving school at 1:45 pm an arriving back to NRHS around 8 pm.  Dress for the concert is business causal. Students are asked to bring money for a dinner stop on the way home.

Central District Music Festival

Congratulations to all the students who auditioned for the Central District Music Festival this past weekend. Over 900 Central Massachusetts students from 60 different schools vied for admission to sing or play at the festival to be held in Mechanics Hall in January. Only 375 students out of the 940 who auditioned were successful. These students are divided among the chorus, band, orchestra, and jazz band that will appear on the program. In addition to this, the top 10% of the accepted students were recommended to try out for the All-State Music Festival to be held in Symphony Hall, Boston, in March.

The following Nashoba students will attend the festival:

Kevin Cote, Tenor, Chorus
Evan Daisy, Trombone, Jazz Band with an All-State recommendation
Erika Rohrberg, Flute, Band with an All-State recommendation
Catherine Smith, Soprano, Chorus with an All-State recommendation
Isabela Tanashian, Alto, Chorus with an All-State recommendation
Alycia Ventura, Alto, Chorus with an All-State recommendation
Dan Yapp, Trumpet, Jazz Band with an All-State recommendation

Boston Pops Trip December 5, 2014

Boston Holiday Pops: December 5th

The students of the music department will be taking a trip to see the Holiday Pops at Symphony Hall in Boston on Friday, December 5th, for the 4 pm performance.   If your student would like to go, they will need to pick up a permission form from Mr. McCarthy or Mrs. Mianulli or get the form below.  Turn in the completed permission form and a check made payable to Nashoba Friends of Music for $36 to Mr. McCarthy or Mrs. Mianulli.  There are only 47 seats available, so don’t wait too long.
